Definition Classica Répertoire's R10 ratings The panel of the monthly magazine Classica Répertoire gives a rating to each CD published. As well a technical rating (recording quality) and an editorial rating (for the brochure and the cover), the panel gives an artistic rating for interpretation and, in the case of new or little-known works, for the music itself. The top ratings are R10, for 'love at first sight' and R9, for an exceptional recording. The other ratings are as follows : R8: excellent R7: very good R6: good R5: moderately good CD, or 'honourable' works R4: stylistic or musical reservations; disappointing R3: major stylistic or musical reservations; uninteresting, or superfluous R2: major faults; either uninteresting music, or else good music badly performed R1: flagrant errors or defects either of performance or of choice of music. Considered as unworthy of release.
